H. Clay Lane, a veteran of WWI started H.C. Lane & Son after the breakup of a failed partnership of building bridges across the United states during Franklin Roosevelt's “New Deal”. One of the last projects completed by Clay and Blackwell was the Rt. 7 bridge across the Shenandoah River before Berryville, Virginia. Since 1958 H.C. Lane & Son Has Been located out of Marshall, Virginia. Our brand at the time was most notably recognized as a professional Tennis/Sport Court Contractor in the state of Virginia. After the death of H.C. Lane, Sr. in 1968, H.C. Lane, Jr. was to take over and continue the company he and his father had created together. A few notable courts were the Airlie Conference center, Middleburg Tennis Club, FBI Headquarters now known as Quantico, Loan Oak, Winchester Country Club, Fauquier Springs Country Club, and various private estates in Northern Virginia. In the mid 80’s during a short fall in economy H.C. Lane Jr. decided to ground construction and keep the trucks running only to do trucking, hauling, and earth moving. After the passing of H.C. Lane, Jr. in 2011, His grandson knew he needed to keep the family company alive and reopen the doors quickly in 2012. Having experience and education in the Landscape construction and swimming pool industry his grandson has kept the business alive and is continuing to expand the company into complete design and build of your outdoor environments. Whether it includes getting wet in a pool, relaxing on your patio, or staying fit on your sport court reconnecting you or your family with the natural world around us.
